Can anyone troubleshoot my hydraulics?

I have a 1998 ASV HD4520, skid steer loader. The bucket works on a manual, not electric, joystick controller. I had the lift cylinders rebuilt about two weeks ago. The machine has been working fine. Yesterday one of my workers was trying to get a piece of a stump out of the ground and the bucket popped off of the root and shook the hell out of the machine. Ever since that happened, the tilt on the bucket will not work. All of the hydraulics work off of the same motor. (tracks, lift, tilt, and aux.) Everything else is working fine. The tilt will only dangle when there is no pressure applied. There aren’t any leaks. I removed on line, there is pressure. no matter which direction I try to tilt it, it tilts downward. when I let off, it dangles. Can anyone tell me what is happening? I am lost. Thanks in advance. You can email me @ dstreedirtyahoo.com. Any literature on this would be greatly appreciated also.

Sounds like the piston or pistons got bent during the shock. When they bend they will not move in and out anymore. Sounds like you might be getting them rebuilt again. Might want to check the price of some new rams though before you rebuild them again.

i suspect that you have wiped out the seals on the piston. a cup type seal can roll over and allow the oil to blow by the piston and an O ring type could have been blown out of the groove. teart down the tilt cylinder [s] and check the piston seals.

I think you damaged the head inside the cylinder the part that holds the seals and wiper rings you have all the pressure you need but its bypassing on the inside. just disconnect the hoses to that cylinder and hit it with a little air if it doesn’t move then its bypassing watch out for the oil spray
